Hello everyone ,im due to meet the owner of a bargain booze franchise ,he is selling a portfolio of three shops with a weekly turnover of 50,000 with commission related sales on top of this ,the three stores are managed and overseen by the owner, the asking price for the buisiness is 325,000 ,the rent is 50,000 a year ,i have yet to look at any books and will not be told the net profit till i meet the owner ,a previous post set me a bit jittery about this bb franchise saying anything lower tha 20,000 is not worth this ,also i am new to retail any advice woul be well recieved ,Thank you. Ray

The turn over is too low for the price.

hi Raymond , if you are new to retail just be careful ;I,m not too sure how the BB franchise works ,but you dont get many of them going for low prices anywhere, so it does make you think that they must be profitable- are you sure taking on 3 outlets all at once might be a bit too much to take on ? Will the seller just sell one only, then your not committing yourself, and if things didnt work out it may be easier offloading one outlet rather than three. ALSO, I know of a friend of a friend who once bought a run down ex-post office shop with a post office;he got BB in just to kit the place out,and apparently did very well, this would be cheaper than spending 100 ks ;oviuosly its just a thought, but it could save you a hell of a lot of money.
Another word of warning ; profit margins are supposed to be very slender Ive heard withthese Bargain Boozes-for example, how much of the T/O are cigarette sales and beer sales?Margins on these can be as low as 4/5 % ! remember;TURNOVER = INSANITY...PROFITS=SANITY .BECAREFUL;;;RESEARCH,RESEARCH,RESEARCH;;;;AND dont rush in.

...no follow up , I looked at bargain boozes, they all look far too overpriced for my likings, also the idea of being tied down to a company didnt appeal-
