Other information
- Expansion potential:
- Existing contacts with local chalet owners after over a decade of being in the area, and with a growing customer base (approx 1000 guests every season) means that the business can stay the same size or be quickly grown with relative ease. we have experienced approximately 95% occupancy every year. New chalets of good standard are within our grasp.
Large operators, given the economic downturn, are reducing their chalet stock BUT increasing holiday prices, and not discounting like in previous years.
The result is less chalet holidays are available on the market than last year, but the decrease in the number of people wanting to holiday in the snow hs proven not to be as large as the lost chalet holiday beds, thus providing independent chalet operators the opportunity to maintain, or even surpass, historic occupancy levels.
Despite the losses incurred from the weakening of the £ against the Euro , Independent operators still in business (a few have indeed slipped away) can, and are, profiting from the lack of chalet holidays and the higher than expected demand (that was not as hard hit as some feared - people love snow!!).
Those independents with strong market presence and quality chalet products are able to maintain a strong position through continuing to offer competitive pricing and more personable services, whilst maintain (if not improving) high occupancy levels.
They say that a recession sorts the wheat from the chaff.
Last winter season, saw our most successful yet, and prompted us to continue expanding at the current pace of a new chalet every year.
We are now also in La Plagne as well as our original resort Les Arcs.
The remaining independent chalet companies use a formula that has worked well and quickly evolved - A personal and customer focused strategy, creating free of charge word of mouth marketing and repeat business bookings, plus and an ability to monitor and control service level and costs on a direct and daily basis.
Assistance in understading the 'ins and outs' of the business is part and parcel of the asking price. (maintaining revenues, monitoring and control of costs and effective sales, recruitment etc)
