Business Activities:
The business was founded over 25 years ago by its current owners who now wish to retire. It has itself recently grown through the acquisition of a competitor, thus reducing further the number of players in this already niche sector. This business has always prided itself on the quality and reliability of the services it provides. The owners are assisted in the running of the business by a General Manager who ensures the day-to-day management and oversees the 10 further staff member, 9 of whom hold full HGV driving licences. Many of the staff members are long serving and this continuity is well respected by clients.

The fleet consists of 11 transporters of various types, including; rare heated trailers, 4X4 trailers, 6 car capacity trailers. Collectively the fleet is able to cover a very broad range of specialist requirements, including the transport of high value concept models and prototypes. There will be no financing outstanding by end January 2008, except the lease hire of one vehicle at approximately £900 p.m. including maintenance costs. The business has recently gained a new contract worth an additional £250,000-£300,000 per year in revenues.

The business premises are leased on a full repair, maintain and insure basis, and are located near to the motorway network in the South East on England. The premises have a licence for parking of up to 14 HGV vehicles which is very hard to find in the area. Rent and rates total approximately £76,000 per annum. The current lease period expires in 2 years. If relocation were being considered, it is understood that the current premises would quickly find a taker.

While 70% of the turnover and activity of the business is in transport, there is also another highly niche revenue stream that is generated by the same members of staff, under a separate brand. This area has required the business to employ highly technical staff (also HGV licence holders). For reason of confidentiality the nature of this work will only be divulged once a non disclosure agreement has been entered into by prospective purchasers, as being one of the only such providers in the UK, the identity of the business would become immediately apparent.

The current owners are flexible as to the length and type of handover they would provide, however they do not feel that a new owner would require a lengthy period post sale as the business is very straight forward. It is our opinion that the two owners could be replaced by one person post sale.
