Business description
Our business is 27 years old and is a secretarial and general staff agency in Cambridge. We supply temporary and permanent staff and has historically supplied staff to the majority of large employers in the area. The two owners are now looking to retire and are interested in selling the business goodwill, including the trading name, client and candidate lists and know-how.

The premises are currently leased at a yearly rental of £6,500 per year which is highly competitive for central Cambridge. The premises have parking available in front (again a big plus in Cambridge where parking is very difficult). The lease is currently up for renegotiation in September 2009 and the landlord has indicated that he would be prepared to re-let the premises for a 3 year term at a similar rental value, subject to covenant.

Other information
- Expansion potential:
- The Cambridge labour market is still relatively buoyant, with relatively low unemployment. The university continues to be a major employer in the city and is unaffected by the recession, and a number of employers are engaged in research and high-tech business, which are less affected by the recession. There is a new biotechnology park being built with hundreds, if not thousands of jobs coming in 2010. Major expansion of Addenbrokes hospital will also create thousands of new jobs. Cambridge is only 45 minutes from London by train and there is still a massive market to place Cambridge residents in London jobs.
- Planning consent:
- The premises have A2 consent which is the consent required for a recruitment agency
- Competition / Market:
- Three major high street chains have closed in Cambridge recently, as their client base seemed to have been concentrated in areas which were particularly affected by the recession. We believe that this will open up opportunities for independents, particularly as the market comes out of recession.
- Support & training:
- The owners intend to retire, but are happy to provide a handover period to a purchaser, as well as ongoing telephone support.
