Property information
- Property:
- Freehold
- Location:
- BRIXHAM
Together with Torquay and Paignton, Brixham forms part of the Borough of Torbay - three towns formed around the crescent of Torbay, with Brixham standing on its southern tip. The town has a long and colourful history, probably best known as one of the Country's principal fishing ports and as the landing place of the Prince of Orange more than 300 years ago. The fishing industry is thriving and a new fish quay has been constructed to accommodate the fleet of trawlers and fish market which provide a fascinating spectacle throughout the year.
In more recent years, Brixham has established itself as a popular and increasingly prestigious resort town - highly regarded by visitors and residents alike. It depends largely on its natural beauty, set below the wild headland of Berry Head (now in the care of the National Trust) and with colour-washed cottages piled row on row above the bustling port which is also home to the Torbay Lifeboat and to the pilot boats which chaperone commercial ships, frequent visitors to "offshore" Torbay.
A substantial area of the harbour and foreshore was redeveloped in 1988 to form a 500 berth Marina, a promenade around the harbour linking the town centre and the breakwater, a 350 space car park and the development of houses, flats, shops, and a restaurant.
Approached from New Road through a low walled and gravelled area with a variety of pots, window boxes and hanging baskets and parking for 2 cars.
