- Location:
- Oban is the capital of north Argyll and a busy ferry and railway terminal. However, the town is probably better known as a very popular and busy tourist destination. The town has a range of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and is an ideal centre for exploring the beautiful scenery of north Argyll.
The town is full of things to do and see including an abundance of places of historic interest and scenic beauty.
Breadalbane Street is one of the main streets in the town centre and therefore ideally placed to attract and serve customers with the bar being popular with locals and visitors alike.
- Premises details:
- The modest exterior of the premises give little indication of the quality of the bars that customers encounter when entering.
From the street, there is a combined entrance for both bars which then gives the option of entering at ground floor level, being Paparazzi Cafe Bar, or alternatively stairs leading to the lower ground floor being O’Donnells Irish Bar.
Paparazzi Cafe Bar is presented in a highly modern and tasteful fashion. Photographs and images of celebrities and films, both iconic and modern, adorn the walls and the bar is furnished to a very high standard.
The room has a varnished wooden mock floor, attractive bar tables and seating with bar stools around the bar counter which is inself a stylish feature of the room. The restaurant is capable of seating up to 60 customers comfortably and is both ideally suited as a place to enjoy delicious cocktails or drinks whilst listening to good music or as a restaurant for a wide range of excellent foods including seafood and local produce.
O’Donnells Irish Bar is full of more traditional character. Featuring a tiled stone floor with a slightly raised wooden dance floor/stage to one end. The room has exposed timbers to the ceiling and long fixed banquet seating with bar tables to the front of them. There are also bar stools arranged around the bar counter which is a well laid out and equipped service area. There is also a covered smoking area to the rear of the premises.
CCTV security cameras are installed inside and out with a 24 hour recording system in place. Also an intruder alarm is installed which is monitored by ADT.
The properties share a professional catering kitchen which has a wide range of cooking equipment including a six burner range with full extraction with ample storage and worktops. There is also a cellar and store areas for both of the bars.
Business Operation
- Expansion potential:
- It is interesting to note that the current proprietor has other business interests and therefore if these bars were taken over by “hands on” owner/operators it is anticipated that business could be built up further from its current impressive levels.
- Reasons for selling:
- Other business interests
- Trading hours:
- Both bars are open all year round. However, during the summer months the opening hours are extended – with Paparazzi opening around 12noon in the summer months and around 4pm in the winter months. Both bars are licensed to 1am. However, it is often the case that regular functions are held at which times the license can be extended to 2am or 3am.
